Christopher Paige

The veterinary cardiologist behind our mobile services is Dr. Christopher Paige. Chris has been working in the field for more than 12+ years but has had a passion for animals all of his life.

Dr. Paige is board-certified in Cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). For more than nine years, he has worked in private specialty practices in Mesa, Phoenix, and Flagstaff, Arizona, offering full, interventional cardiology service.

In 2012, Dr. Paige was recruited into cardiovascular research at a world-renowned human medical device company. He also served as Chair of the ACVIM Residency Training Committee and is Adjunct Faculty at Midwestern School of Veterinary Medicine. In 2014, he founded Veterinary Specialists of Northern Arizona to provide cardiology services to the Flagstaff, Cottonwood, Campe Verde, Sedona and surrounding areas. He opened Valley Veterinary Cardiology in August 2016 to offer the Valley's first cardiology specific practice dedicated to patient, client and primary care veterinarian support.

In his free time, Dr. Paige enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, as well as their family pets. He also likes to hike, run, mountain bike and downhill ski.

Jonathan A. Abbott, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology)

Dr. Jonathan Abbott received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph and trained in veterinary cardiology at the University of Florida and at North Carolina State University. Dr. Abbott was board certified in the Specialty of Cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 1993. Prior to his appointment at Virginia Tech, where he is currently Associate Professor of Cardiology, Dr. Abbott held a faculty position at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Abbott is a past-President, Specialty of Cardiology (ACVIM). He has published papers and textbook chapters in diverse subject areas of cardiology.

Dr. Abbott will be joining Valley Veterinary Cardiology as a consultant. He will be initially providing veterinary cardiology services to Albuquerque, New Mexico.


Gregory “Alfie” Lucero, RCS, RCCS

Gregory “Alfie” Lucero, RCS, RCCS started his journey in Veterinary Medicine in 2009, after he graduated valedictorian from Anthem College with an Associates of Science Degree in Veterinary Technology. Alfie quickly started his career working at VETMED and worked closely with Internal Medicine, Surgical Services, Radiology, and Cardiology. Naturally gravitating towards specialty medicine, he found his passion in the Cardiology department and became its lead Veterinary Cardiology technician. Within his 4 years at the specialty clinic, he was the first assistant in performing PDA embolization, balloon valvuloplasty, and pacemaker procedures.

After gaining knowledge from the exposure to diagnostic imaging in the Veterinary field, Alfie decided to take his passion for cardiology and patient care another step further. Alfie enrolled at West Coast Ultrasound Institute where he received an Associates of Science Degree in Cardiovascular Sonography and graduated top of his class. Upon passing his registry boards and becoming a registered Cardiac Sonographer, Alfie was employed at a world-renowned human cardiovascular medical device company (W.L. Gore & Associates, Flagstaff, AZ) from 2014 to 2017. He gained a vast amount of sonography experience in preclinical FDA medical device development.

From 2017 to 2021, Alfie then accepted a position at Flagstaff Medical Center learning human Cardiac Pathology as an Echo Technologist. He has performed a multitude of human adult/pediatric echo cardio exams in emergency and ICU situations, assisting in structural heart procedures, and performed stress echocardiography for coronary artery disease. Within the last year, Alfie further excelled in sonography by becoming a Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer through Cardiovascular Credentialing International.

During his free time, he enjoys camping with his wife and daughter, is an avid mountain bike rider, and has been playing music the majority of his life. Alfie is extremely excited to join the Valley Vet Cardiology team as a Veterinary Cardiac Sonographer. He looks forward to giving your patient’s the professionalism and quality diagnostic imaging care they deserve.
